I had the opportunity to create and develop two advisory councils; MIU PAC - Miami International University Professional Advisory Council and SLU MAC - Saint Leo University Management Advisory Council. The mission of both councils was to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Some of the duties expected of council members were; review program curriculum and make recommendations, advise about skills needed by industry in graduates, mentorship program, and student portfolio reviews.

 

Below is an example of MIU PAC giving back to the students. I organized a successful event where industry council members would review student portfolios and provide recommendations about their portfolio and career path. Students were expected to be prepared with resumes and portfolios in-hand. It was a very successful event, enjoyed by both student and advisory council member.
